Role: Solar Electrician

Salary: £45,000pa

We’re seeking a qualified and experienced Solar PV Electrician to carry out installation, testing, commissioning, fault finding and maintenance of solar photovoltaic systems in both domestic and commercial settings. You’ll be expected to work independently and as part of a wider electrical team, ensuring all works are delivered to high safety and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities - Solar PV Electrician

  • Install, test and commission domestic and/or commercial Solar PV systems
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs or component replacements
  • Handle both AC and DC electrical circuits, inverters, isolators and monitoring systems
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and testing in line with regulations
  • Use digital systems and apps to record job progress and outcomes
  • Carry out installation and repair of general electrical fittings where needed
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful work environment in customer properties
  • Operate tools, equipment, and access systems (including working at height or in confined spaces)
  • Follow and contribute to the completion of risk assessments and method statements (RAMS)
  • Travel to various sites as required and complete job sheets or digital reports

Essential Qualifications & Experience - Solar PV Electrician 

  • Recognised electrical apprenticeship or equivalent
  • 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations
  • City & Guilds 2391-52 (Inspection, Testing & Certification)
  • ECS Gold Card
  • Valid UK driving licence
  • Experience with the installation and maintenance of Solar PV systems
  • Familiarity with monitoring platforms, data loggers, and remote diagnostics
  • Knowledge of UK building regulations and DNO requirements
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety procedures and practices

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • MCS Accreditation knowledge
  • PAS 2030 familiarity (for retrofit/funded projects)
  • G98/G99 grid connection understanding
  • Relevant Solar PV qualification (e.g., LCL Awards, BPEC, or legacy City & Guilds 2399)
  • Experience working in social housing or property maintenance
  • Good local area knowledge
  • First Aid and Working at Height training
