Plumbing Service Operations Manager - Liverpool

Our client is a nationwide Plumbing and Drainage specialist that offer a wide range of services both commercial and domestic, within their given geographical area (Merseyside, Lancashire) The Plumbing Operations Manager will manage the daily operations of the Plumbing Service Department.

The successful person would manage a team of around 20 engineers and admin staff, and be responsible for overseeing schedules, providing technical support ensuring budgets are controlled and KPIs and service SLAs are met and exceed.

The successful person should come from an operational/commercial/service delivery background with preferably some form of M&E or Plumbing technical knowledge

You should be able to display knowledge in

  • Performing Quality Reviews on work to ensure quality meets established standards, techniques and safety requirements; makes recommendations as requirements to improve quality and productivity
  • Establishing and maintaining a regular training program to ensure that technicians are properly trained on latest service techniques and safety procedures for equipment and general working conditions 
  • Participating and/or conducting regularly scheduled departmental safety/informational meetings
  • Managing scheduling teams in order to ensure staff, vehicles, work loads are planned correctly
  • Maintaining communication with vendors and internal teams regarding  warranty, product recall notices & operational problems
  • Developing and monitoring budgets, goals and objectives to insure departmental profitability
  • Reviewing work orders, invoices and time reports for accuracy, and to ensure timely cash flow and maintain minimal account receivables
  • Ensuring that all company/department policies are being followed by all technicians
  • Overseeing assigned service vehicles, monitors vehicles to ensure they are being maintained and operated as required and used according to company policy
  • Monitoring service vehicles to ensure they are in an acceptable condition to ensure no down time to technician’s output
  • Team management including hires & development
  • Generating sales leads; and promotes and develops maintenance/service agreements
  • Managing larger installation, start-up and commissioning projects
  • Liaising with other departmental managers to meet company and departmental goals and objectives

The ideal person should display

  • Excellent customer service and sales skills
  • At least Five years operational management experience within the operational, service delivery or similar with a preference to have M&E or Plumbing background with a degree and/or substantial work experience
  • Technical aptitude with knowledge of industry standard codes
  • Excellent leadership skills to enhance team productivity and standards of work produced
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; and strong conflict management skills
  • Detail oriented and highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments
  • Good computer skills: knowledge of and proficiency in common office applications such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook and general software navigation
  • Ability to motivate and influence
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and background
  • Ability and willingness to work non-standard schedule: nights, weekends and holidays as/if required
