Operations Director – Commercial Solar

Salary £80k-£90k plus car and benefits (Salary is negotiable)

We are working with a rapidly expanding renewable energy business that is seeking an experienced Operations Director to lead and scale its commercial solar operations. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a driven professional who thrives in high-growth environments and is passionate about delivering large-scale clean energy solutions.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Operations Director will take ownership of operational strategy, project delivery, and performance across the business’s commercial solar portfolio. You will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, strengthening internal processes, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee day-to-day operational activities across commercial solar projects from pre-construction through to commissioning.
• Develop and implement scalable operational processes to support rapid business growth.
• Manage and mentor cross-functional teams
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with regulatory and safety requirements.
• Collaborate closely with the Managing Director and senior leadership team to support strategic planning and business expansion.
• Monitor operational performance, KPIs, and project profitability, implementing improvements where required.
• Strengthen relationships with key contractors, suppliers, and delivery partners.
• Drive a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement across all operations.

Key Requirements

• Proven experience in a senior operations leadership role within commercial solar, renewable energy, or related  sectors.
• Strong understanding of solar project delivery, EPC environments, and large-scale installations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams within a high-growth or scaling business.
• Excellent commercial awareness and operational planning skills.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
