handyman

Multitask Personnel are looking for a handyman working with the Local Authority based in CH41

This will be starting on the 1^st of April and will be 36 hours per week, paying £10.42 per hour. Hours of work will be between 9am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday. This role will be temp on going

Work in accordance with the practices and procedures of the Local Authority to deliver effective and efficient buildings maintenance support across Targeted Youth Support. 

Knowledge & skills:

• Knowledge of Health & Safety Regulations.
• Knowledge of security systems and procedures.
• Basic skills in plumbing, joinery, painting to a DIY standard.
• Ability to carry out safe manual handling.
• Ability to communicate politely and work with persons at all levels.
• Ability to maintain clear health and safety records, follow action plans and induct staff in basic health and safety procedures.    
• The ability to co-ordinate maintenance throughout the building and with external contractors.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      
• Good interpersonal and communications skills.
• Ability to assess risks to ensure health and safety compliance.
• Ability to use own initiative and work independently.
• Ability to work flexibly (across locations and working hours).

Experience: 

• Ability to operate alarm systems.
• Ability to operate heating systems.
• Porterage.
• DIY experience at the level of minor maintenance including plumbing and joinery.
• Experience of taking responsibility for the care and maintenance of premises and dealing with contractors.
• An understanding of and an ability to deliver excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
• Working as a member of a team.

Qualification:

• Trade relevant to the post.
• Basic first aid certificate.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Ordering of materials and stock control.
• The ability to formulate and follow a planned maintenance programme.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines.
• Use of IT.

Experience:

• Key holding experience.
• Responsibility for the security of the buildings.
• Experience of fire evacuation procedures and monitoring.
• Supervisory Experience.
