As the Energy Trading Risk & Compliance Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our energy trading activities are both high-performing and compliant. You will work closely with the Trading Director to deliver operational support, risk oversight, and compliance assurance across a rapidly expanding portfolio.
The role encompasses three core areas of focus:
Maintain and enhance operational risk frameworks for trading activities.
Oversee internal trading controls and reporting systems.
Ensure appropriate monitoring tools and processes are in place.
Ensure adherence to internal governance structures and external regulatory requirements.
Support the integration and compliance of new trading projects.
Oversee procedures for maintaining staff competency and efficient operations.
Manage market interactions including:
Elexon (credit and registration)
Trading exchanges (EPEX Spot, N2EX)
OTC agreements and processes
NESO engagements
Deliver regulatory reporting, performance analysis, and industry insight.
Support delivery of new projects and initiatives as the business expands.
Strong background in energy trading, risk management, and industry operations.
Demonstrated experience developing and implementing governance frameworks.
Familiarity with relevant industry processes and stakeholders such as:
Elexon
National Grid/NESO
EPEX/N2EX
EFET/GTMA
REMIT, EMR, settlements, and credit risk
Experience with commercial operations, particularly in a shift-based environment.
Proven ability to manage and deliver complex projects.
Excellent analytical skills, with a commercial mindset and the ability to identify opportunities while managing risk.
A practical, detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with experience developing team capabilities.
Confidence with Microsoft Office and an understanding of relevant trading and risk management systems.
