Position: Electrical Service Engineer

Location: Swindon (with travel across the UK)

Salary: £50k (DOE)

 

Company Overview:

Our client is a renowned provider of renewable energy solutions, committed to helping businesses achieve operational net zero. With a focus on sustainability, they specialise in the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging points and solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a highly skilled Senior Service Engineer with extensive experience in the renewables sector to join their team in Swindon.

 

Role Overview:

As an Electrical Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of EV charging points and solar PV systems. You will also play a key role in supporting the installation teams, providing expert guidance, and ensuring the highest standards of service. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and customer service skills, as you will be the face of the company during on-site visits.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular maintenance, inspections, and repairs on EV charging points and solar PV systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues with electrical systems, PV arrays, inverters, and EV chargers.
  • Assist the installation team with complex installations, ensuring all systems are installed correctly and meet industry standards.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to explain issues, solutions, and maintenance requirements, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with industry regulations, health and safety standards, and company protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of all service activities, including reports on repairs, parts used, and customer interactions.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior engineers and installation teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry developments, new technologies, and best practices within the renewables sector.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installation, along with 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the electrical industry, with at least 2 years in the renewables sector, focusing on EV charging points and/or solar PV systems.
  • City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing).
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, renewable energy technologies, and grid connections.
  • Full, clean UK driving license.

 

Skills & Competencies:

  • Deep knowledge of EV charging systems, PV installations, and associated electrical infrastructure.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve complex issues on-site.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly to customers and colleagues.
  • High level of accuracy in work, with a commitment to quality and safety.
  • Dedicated to delivering exceptional service and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Able to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment.
