About This Opportunity

If you're an experienced electrical project manager ready to lead significant building services projects from start to finish, this could be your next move. You'll manage projects worth £1.5m to £10m, coordinate teams of 2–4 across complex installations, and work with major clients across sectors including healthcare, education, commercial and industrial. You'll have autonomy over project delivery, from planning and procurement through to handover, while upholding rigorous safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage electrical building services projects from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring delivery is safe, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
  • Plan, programme and coordinate all project activities, ensuring works are delivered safely and in accordance with agreed timescales.
  • Lead direct teams and coordinate subcontractors and supply chain partners across allocated projects, maintaining rigorous quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, consultants, designers and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle, attending progress meetings and client reviews.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, programmes and contracts to ensure full understanding of requirements and risk mitigation.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks and implement solutions to minimise delays and maintain programme performance.
  • Coordinate procurement of materials, plant and subcontractors in line with programme and project budgets.
  • Monitor project costs, variations and resource requirements, working closely with commercial and contracts teams to maximise project performance.
  • Carry out regular site inspections, quality checks and snagging inspections to ensure works meet expected standards.
  • Ensure all project documentation is completed accurately, including progress reports, site records, quality inspections and commissioning documentation.
  • Promote a positive health, safety and environmental culture across all projects, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards.
  • Support commissioning activities, testing, client demonstrations and project handovers to ensure successful completion.
  • Maintain accurate project records, including training records, operative competency records and site documentation.
  • Support the development and mentoring of electricians, supervisors and site managers within the project team.
  • Carry out nationwide site visits where required.

About You

Essential:

  • NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Installation, Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • Proven experience delivering electrical building services projects within the construction industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services installations.
  • Excellent understanding of construction programmes, project management and site operations.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, direct labour and supply chain partners.
  • Strong knowledge of current Building Regulations, BS 7671 Wiring Regulations and industry best practice.
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) qualification.
  • ECS (Employment Check Scheme) Management Card.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to prioritise workload, manage multiple project activities and meet deadlines.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and project management software.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable:

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) Managing Safely.
  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing.
  • Experience delivering projects across healthcare, education, commercial, industrial and public sector environments.
  • Knowledge of NEC and JCT Forms of Contract.
  • Experience working with BIM and digital project information.
  • Temporary Works Coordinator training.
  • AP (Authorised Person) or HV/LV experience.
  • Asbestos Awareness.
