Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced and qualified Electrical Engineer to join their team at a leading food and beverages production facility in Carlisle. The successful candidate will have extensive commercial and industrial experience, specifically within the food and beverages sector. You will be responsible for ensuring the electrical systems and machinery operate at peak efficiency, with a focus on compliance, maintenance, and continuous improvement.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine electrical maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs on equipment and machinery used in food and beverage production.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and regulations.
  • Conduct electrical testing and inspection.
  • Lead or assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment and electrical systems.
  • Work closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to minimise downtime and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Participate in electrical project planning, including the design and development of electrical infrastructure upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical issues and recommend cost-effective solutions.
  • Maintain detailed records of electrical work completed, including risk assessments and method statements.

 

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
  • City & Guilds 2391 – Testing & Inspection.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
  • Extensive experience in a heavy commercial or industrial environment, ideally within the food and beverage sector.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, controls, and machinery used in production environments.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced production setting.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex electrical issues.

 

Desirable Skills:

  • Previous experience working with PLCs and automation systems.
  • Knowledge of HACCP and GMP guidelines in a food production environment.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement processes.

 

Benefits Package:

  • Circa £80k depending on experience.
  • 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
