Job Description:

Multitask Personnel are partnered with a prestigious Electrical Engineering Contractor that has been a leader in the industry for over 25 years.

The Electrical Engineer role requires a proactive and versatile individual who can manage the entire project lifecycle, from initial customer engagement and opportunity identification to the final stages of installation, testing, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance support.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Engagement:
    • Engage with existing and potential customers to explore and understand their project requirements.
    • Follow up on quotations and tender responses within 2 days of issuance to ensure receipt and provide additional information as needed.
    • Regularly review and update the status of quotes and tenders on the CRM system.
  • Business Development:
    • Identify and cultivate new business opportunities and relationships that align with the company's growth objectives.
    • Develop strategic relationships with clients to generate ongoing business opportunities.
  • Project Management:
    • Oversee project budgets, manage procurement processes, and prevent scope creep.
    • Attend project meetings, manage project documentation, including CAD records, test and commissioning documents, and related software.
    • Provide commercial, technical, and project management support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Coordinate and liaise with installation teams, operations management, and other relevant stakeholders.
    • Assist colleagues as needed to ensure project success.
    • Support the growth and development of the regional team as business needs evolve.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Define and develop engineering solutions in collaboration with the customer.
    • Conduct design calculations, prepare drawings, and develop necessary software for projects.
    • Ensure compliance with current I.E.E. Regulations for Electrical Installations (BS 7671), British Standards Code of Practice, Electricity Supply Regulations, and Electricity at Work Regulations.
  • Administration and Compliance:
    • Maintain diligence in management and administrative duties, ensuring timely and informative contributions.
    • Ensure all project activities adhere to high standards of quality, safety, and tidiness.
  • Installation and On-Site Work:
    • Manage and execute 70% of work related to the installation of heavy electrical equipment, such as field conveyors and Motor Control Centres (MCCs).
    • Provide workshop cover and support for the remaining 30% of the work.
    • Set out jobs based on drawings and specifications, requisitioning necessary installation materials.
    • Accept responsibility for job completion and supervise other operatives when required.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Extensive experience in electrical engineering, with a strong focus on heavy electrical installations.
  • In-depth knowledge of the I.E.E. Regulations for Electrical Installations BS 7671.
  • Familiarity with Electricity Supply Regulations and relevant British Standards.
  • Proficiency in project management, including budgeting, procurement, and documentation management.
  • Must have been a registered Apprentice or undergone some equivalent method of training and have had practical training in electrical installation work
  • NVQ Level 3 in electrical installation work or HNC/D (Electrical Engineering) or experienced-based equivalent
  • BS7671 18th edition Wiring Regulations
  • UK Driving Licence
  • Familiarity with Amtech/Trimble software, AutoCAD and PLC & SCADA systems is desirable

Package:

  • Salary: Circa £80k depending on experience.
  • Contracted Working Hours - 40 hours, Monday to Friday
  • Company Pickup with business miles fuel card.
