Our client are a fast-growing renewable energy company specialising in the design and installation of solar PV systems across domestic, commercial, and industrial sectors. Their mission is to drive the transition to a sustainable energy future through innovation, quality, and compliance.

Role Overview

They are seeking an experienced Design and Compliance Manager to oversee the technical design, compliance, and DNO (Distribution Network Operator) application processes for our solar PV projects. You will be a key part of the operations team, ensuring that every installation is fully compliant, optimally designed, and efficiently processed through local network operators.

This role requires in-depth experience with Easy PV and Open Solar platforms, a strong understanding of UK DNO requirements, and a commitment to quality and safety standards in the renewables sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design process for solar PV installations using Easy PV and Open Solar platforms.
• Ensure all designs meet current regulations, including G98, G99, MCS, IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671), and building/planning requirements.
• Manage and submit DNO applications, liaising with all relevant stakeholders to secure approvals.
• Maintain and update internal compliance documentation, risk assessments, and method statements.
• Provide technical support to the installation and project management teams throughout project lifecycles.
• Carry out post-installation compliance checks and ensure all documentation is complete and accurate.
• Stay updated on regulation changes and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with sales and operations teams to ensure proposals and designs are technically feasible and cost-effective.
• Conduct periodic internal audits and ensure continuous improvement in compliance processes.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in a similar technical or compliance role within the renewable energy/solar PV sector.
• Proficient in Easy PV and Open Solar design platforms.
• Strong understanding of UK DNO application processes and requirements (G98/G99).
• In-depth knowledge of electrical standards, MCS certification, and H&S regulations.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Strong communication skills for dealing with DNOs, clients, and internal teams.
• Ability to produce and review technical drawings, layouts, and schematics.

Desirable Qualifications

• Electrical engineering background or relevant technical qualifications (e.g. City & Guilds 2391, 18th Edition).
• MCS or NICEIC experience (audits, technical documentation).
• Knowledge of battery storage integration and hybrid systems.
• Project management or compliance auditing experience.
