Salary: £12.59 per hour
Contract: Fixed term, October 2024 - March 2025

Job Summary:
Our client is looking for two enthusiastic Customer Service Advisors to assist with an important initiative to increase Pension Credit claims in Barnsley, following changes to Winter Fuel Allowance eligibility. This role involves direct engagement with the public, providing guidance on Pension Credit eligibility, and supporting the client’s wider initiative to help eligible residents claim this benefit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Public Engagement and Support

    • Host drop-in sessions at various locations across Barnsley, providing on-site support and information to local residents.
    • Proactively engage with members of the public, answering questions and helping them understand the process of claiming Pension Credit.
  • Eligibility and Application Assistance

    • Use IT software to verify individuals' eligibility for Pension Credit.
    • Provide general advice on how to complete and submit a Pension Credit claim form.
    • Assist residents with filling out Pension Credit forms accurately and thoroughly.
  • Booking and Coordination

    • Manage appointments and bookings for Benefit Advisors to ensure residents receive appropriate assistance.
    • Support the wider team in activities related to the Pension Credit initiative, contributing to a coordinated and effective approach.

Requirements:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with members of the public.
  • Proficiency in using IT software for data entry and eligibility verification.
  • Willingness to travel within Barnsley to host sessions and assist residents at various locations.
  • Reliable, professional, and able to work independently when required.

Additional Information:

  • Full training on Pension Credit and the application process will be provided.
  • The role involves travel to various locations within Barnsley, with all travel expenses covered.
