Business Support Officer – Barnsley

Multitask Personnel is recruiting for a Business Support Officer to work with a local authority client based in Cudworth, Barnsley. Cover for various clerical and minuting duties for Children Social Care in the Barnsley area

Details:

  • Contract: 2 months fixed-term 
  • Pay rate: £12.18 per hour
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm
  • Location: Barnsley
  • Requirements: Basic DBS required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle telephone and face-to-face enquiries, providing guidance, signposting, and support to both internal and external customers in line with policies and procedures.
  • Triage and direct referrals and requests for services to the appropriate teams, ensuring timely responses and excellent customer service.
  • Process various referrals, requests, and applications, applying rules and guidelines, and communicate outcomes to customers.
  • Input, record, check, and maintain information on computer and paper-based systems, ensuring accuracy, security, and confidentiality, while adhering to information governance protocols.
  • Organise and provide administrative support at statutory meetings, including minute-taking and action schedules, liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage financial administration, including placing orders, paying invoices, reconciling income, and updating case files in accordance with the council’s financial regulations.
  • Administer petty cash and ensure proper record-keeping and reconciliation.
  • Undertake various administrative duties, managing queries and conflicting demands efficiently.

Education and Training:

  • Level 2 qualification or equivalent (e.g., 4 GCSEs at grades A*-C) – Essential
  • Training in Microsoft Office applications – Desirable

Relevant Experience:

  • Experience working in a business support environment – Essential
  • Proven ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information – Essential
  • Experience with financial administration and information – Essential
  • Experience in servicing meetings and minute-taking using mobile devices at speed and accuracy – Desirable
