Company Overview

Our client is an ambitious and fast-growing wholesale business in the renewable energy sector. As they continue to expand their portfolio, they are now looking for a dynamic and results-driven Solar Business Development Manager to lead the growth of their commercial solar product range.

The Role

Reporting to the Sales & Marketing Director, you will be responsible for driving sales and business growth across your designated region. The focus will be on building a solid customer base and developing long-term relationships within the commercial solar sector. As the company enters an exciting phase of expansion, your role will be critical to generating consistent revenue and increasing market share.

This is a fast-paced and varied position that requires adaptability, self-motivation, and a proactive approach to challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to grow the solar division.

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through market research and lead generation.

  • Build a strong pipeline of commercial clients and solar installation partners.

  • Conduct meetings and presentations to promote the company’s solar solutions and services.

  • Deliver tailored proposals to meet client energy needs and sustainability goals.

  • Ensure all sales activity aligns with legal, industry, and internal compliance standards.

  • Provide exceptional after-sales support and maintain customer satisfaction.

  • Foster long-term client relationships to encourage repeat business.

  • Mentor and support junior sales team members as the business scales.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in business development or sales within the solar or wider renewable energy sector.

  • Sound knowledge of solar PV systems, commercial energy solutions, and industry trends.

  • A track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in a technical or solution-based environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and CRM platforms.

  • Strong negotiation, planning, and organisational abilities.

  • A degree in business, energy, or a related field is advantageous but not essential.
