Street Cleansing Operative

Our client offer a range of services to the Wakefield area, one of these services is Street Cleansing within the borough.

We are looking to recruit Street Cleansing Operatives to work in the Wakefield area on a temporary ongoing contract.

Working under the direction of Team Leaders, utilise experience, skills and knowledge to deliver street cleansing needs to a specified geographical area within the Wakefield District.

Responsibilities

The tasks associated with the role will include the following:

• To use a range of hand tools including brushes, scoops, shovels, litter pickers and similar items.
• To follow written and verbal instructions from team leader and supervisors.
• To assist with operational delivery of Street Scene Services in line with service standards and meeting the expectations of communities.
• To respond to requests for service and complaints.
• To respond in an appropriate manner to requests which require urgent consideration.
• To carry out environmental improvement works as and when required.
• To physically sweep streets, remove litter and detritus, weed removal, fly posting removal, fly tipping removal. Dog fouling removal, syringe removal and the emptying/cleaning of litter bins
• To ensure all tools and equipment used is safe and maintained and to assist with regular update audits of plant and machinery.
• To assist all other Street Scene teams to ensure core services are delivered accordingly and in line with the Service Business Plan.
• To respond to and assist with emergency plan incidents.
• To assist other teams in when required to carry out a range of duties when operational requirements determine. 

Hourly rate is £10.19, hours are Mon-Fri (37hrs a week)
